A visual poem taking place in two places at once in the same space (the cemetery), this puppet form for dancer and creatures is imagined as a double-entrance proposition, in which two actions are played out simultaneously their completeness and complementarity are only revealed once the spectator has experienced both “sides”.

Echo(e)s' residencies will be divided between rehearsals at the Charleville-Mézières cemetery (long-term residency at the cemetery and in the janitor's house) and at the New York Marble Cemetery, in partnership with La MaMa theater in New York.

Ten years ago, we set off for Finland in a car filled with feathers, wires, black sand (and human-sized puppets that scared the customs officers ! ) to perform the first date of Volatil(e)s at the Nukketeatterijuhla TIP-Fest. It was the start of a great adventure and the founding of Yōkaï company...

Le programme de recherche Réveil Invisible a été retenu parmi les 50 projets de résidence sélectionnés dans le cadre de la saison 2024 de la Villa Albertine. Trois membres de la Compagnie Yôkaï seront en résidence de recherche pendant deux mois en mai et juin 2024 à New York et Los Angeles.

The company Yôkaï is hosted at the Figureteatret I Nordland in Stamsund Norway – run by Yngvild Aspeli – for a three-week production residency.
Dedicated to puppets and visual theater, this venue has a stage and multiple workshops. It’s the ideal setting to workshop ideas and create puppet work as one can go back and forth between the stage and the shop.
